So it's OK for anybody to park in Westbourne Gardens?

It might be convenient and less hassle than parking elsewhere - but essentially - it's not OK for anybody & everybody to park in Westbourne Gardens - the road is traffic signed with a 619 (No motor vehicles) plus a 620 (Except for access) this means that only householders plus their associates and tradespersons are entitled to proceed with a motor vehicle beyond the signs - any other traffic is committing a traffic offence - this includes accessing the street to park a vehicle. The rule / law is clear on this - and it is enforced elsewhere

Wiltshire Council's action in converting / "upgrading" to Pay and Display the Stallards car park and refusing to upgrade the security there despite repeated trouble and repeated requests for security improvements from residents nearest the car park has understandably driven car owners to try parking elsewhere (The new "designer" street lights on Bradford Road must irritate those asking for a light on the car park...)

Wiltshire Constabulary have so far refused to act on individual complaints by residents of Westbourne Gardens (Edit - not true!  - but not something that they volunteer when asked... some officers have acted) which have effectively on an individual basis gone to Room 101 - nothing to see here - move along now. The aim of this tiny piece of cyber real estate is simply to make a public space where requests to the body responsible for enforcement can be collected and "left hanging" publicly.

So -if you've complained - or have trouble parking near your house and know the vehicle(s) concerned isn't (aren't) associated with a house in the street please drop a comment in and the details will be posted here.

The bottom line here is that Wiltshire Constabulary deem this to be of no consequence and won't do anything - likewise Wiltshire Council who have apparently no problem using Trading Standards to prosecute lorry drivers / owners for exceeding the weight limit at Bradford on Avon town bridge....
